The School of Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Clinical Interventionist for their Behavioral Medicine Research Group.
This position is for a clinical interventionist for an NIH-funded, randomized controlled trial designed to help children and their families with functional abdominal pain gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs). Because this position will involve cognitive-behavioral therapy with parents of children with a chronic condition, it will require someone with experience and/or training in cognitive-behavioral interventions, preferably in pediatric healthcare domains. This position will be funded by subcontract from an NIH grant, which is awarded to the university.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.) Learning and administering manualized psychosocial treatment protocols to parents of children aged 7-12 with functional abdominal pain gastrointestinal disorders. (80%)
2.) Providing and receiving clinical feedback from study investigators. (10%)
3.) Participation in the formulation of research hypotheses and associated methods. (5%)
4.) Reviewing research data and providing input regarding analysis methods and procedures. (5%)
Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.) Experience conducting cognitive-behavioral therapy.
2.) Flexibility to conduct interventions via telephone with sduty participants during afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
3.) Respect and ability to maintain confidentiality of all subject data.
4.) Dependability and attention to detail.
5.) Adherence to all University of Washington policies and procedures regarding conduct of research with human subjects.
DESIRED:
1.) Knowledge/experience with medical research and psychosocial aspects thereof.
2.) Knowledge of nutrition.
3.) Knowledge/experience with pediatric research and behavioral aspects of abdominal pain disorders.
4.) Experience/familiarity with federally-funded research projects.
5.) Child/family intervention experience.
