Definition
Under the direct supervision of the Collector/Treasurer, provide customer service, process and record
payments for excise, personal property and real estate taxes. Perform data entry, parking ticket collections
and audits ticket issued by Hull police.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
The essential functions or duties listed below are illustrations of the various types of work performed. The

• Collects and processes payments collected at the counter and by mail; reconciles collections, prepares
bank deposits.
• Assist in preparing tax bills for mailing; maintains records of postage usage and expenditures.
• Prepares written correspondence relating to overdue bills, late payments, parking ticket disputes and
returned checks; Provides taxpayer with required documentation.
• Prepares bill warrants and vouchers; keeps track of departmental budget
• Audits and submits parking tickets to Plymouth County Parking Clerk
• Reviews ticket disputes. Resolves issues or forwards to the Hearings officer.
• Collects and posts ticket payments; makes weekly reports to the county of payments and voided tickets
and prepares release documents for marked tickets.
• Police detail billing.
• Performs other similar or related duties as required, or as situation dictates.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill
Knowledge of office practices and procedures; working knowledge of department operations and functions;
familiarity with the statutes and regulations relating to departmental functions. Ability to interact tactfully and
appropriately with the general public and town departments; ability to maintain detailed records and prepare
reports; ability to work effectively under time constraints to meet deadlines; ability to work accurately with
numbers, with attention to detail; ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form.
Supervision
Works under the general direction of the Treasurer-Collector and in accordance with applicable
Massachusetts General Laws, town policies, town bylaws and relevant state, federal and local regulations
and standards. The employee completes work in accordance with established departmental policies and
standards; unusual cases referred to the Treasurer/Collector.
Work Environment
Work is performed under busy office conditions. The workload is subject to seasonal fluctuations.
The employee operates standard office equipment and postage machine.
