CITRUS COUNTY MOSQUITO CONTROL DISTRICT
EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
$20.36 -$30.78 Hourly / $42,348.80-$64,022.40 Yearly

MAJOR FUNCTION
Performs inspection, maintenance and repair of automotive, lawn and spray equipment used in mosquito and noxious weed control.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES
Employees in this class perform duties of average difficulty requiring some initiative and independent judgment under general supervision.
MAJOR DUTIES

activities described below.
• Performs preventive maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Prepares reports on daily, weekly and monthly activities
• Maintains and repairs fogging and spray equipment used in the application
of pesticides
• Loads and cleans fogging and spray machines or other equipment
• Operates various types of vehicles and equipment required to complete
proper maintenance
• Inspects, adjusts and calibrates powered equipment used in the
performance of mosquito control duties
• Procures and records required materials and supplies
• Performs emergency road servicing (requires night work during fogging season)
• Assists with grounds maintenance duties
• May apply pesticides during times of increased arthropod activity.
• Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
• Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques of loading, operating, maintaining and repairing spray and fogging equipment
• Knowledge of the materials, tools and methods used in the repair, maintenance and servicing of a variety of vehicles and equipment
• Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and methods
• Knowledge of parts requirements including ordering and recording
• Skilled in locating and correcting defects
• Skilled in use of shop tools
• Ability to prepare and maintain maintenance records
• Ability to and willingness to work in all weather conditions and high noise level
• Ability to climb, stoop, kneel and crouch at ground level
• Ability to carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to operate forklift
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience in Mosquito Control operations. Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; possession of a valid driver license and ability to possess, within the 6 month probationary period, a current State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Public Health Pest Control Certification.

Citrus County Mosquito Control District is a drug free work place and will require a
